- To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
-
- The following uses a calculator to give you the 1/4 wave section
- of a 1/4 GP antenna or "short" section of a J-pole. I use a
- velocity of propagation factor of .91 and center frequency of
- 146 megahertz; for those with programmable calculators, assign
- variables here :-)
-
- (((((300 x .91) -:- 146) -:- 4) -:- 2.45) x 100)
-
- Results in inches (19.08... in this example) for the 1/4 section.
-
- For real fun use the expression with variables in a #DEFINE in
- a c program and then pull the result out of the middle of some
- string i/o functions later :-)

- The new form is marked on the upper right hand corner "Expires 8/31/96"
- ALL older forms of FCC form 610 are OBSOLETE and the FCC will return any

- To get the new 610 form, either write the the FCC directly at 1270
- Fairfield Rd., Gettysburg PA, 17325-7245, or contact your local VE team.
- The address to mail the completed 610 form is the FCC address given above.
- The FCC recommends applying for renewal approximately 60-90 days
- before expiration.
- There is no fee required for renewal of an amateur license.

- Sounds like the US is bringing their fees into alignment with the Canadian
- fees.
-
- FYI: fees for Canadian amateurs: (sorry, don't have the maritime fees handy)
- qualification exams (per exam): $ 5.00
- annual station license
- (per callsign): $24.00 (I think that's what it is)
-
- therefore for a 10 year license we pay $240 + the cost of any exam/upgrades

-
- On the other hand, once you have a qualification you have it for life,

- It's interesting, Jeff, how your replys to others on this thread are

-
- In answer to your not-very-civil question about why we don't all use

-
- That's why repeaters were invented in the first place, Jeff.
